Re: First vs. Third

It's odd, because I'm exactly the opposite. All through high school I couldn't even make it through the first chapter of a book written in third person. In uni I got over the phobia. Barely. (Lucky for me, because that's when Maledicte came out.) Still, I only make the exception for ridiculously addictive books. I need books to take me over, completely and absolutely, from the get go. I also assume that first person narratives tend to be more character driven...Not sure where that comes from.

And I think we might be inventing these book-ruining trends based on our preferences, because I swear I can't find a good first person fantasy anywhere. 'Cept in urban fantasy, where first person just dominates lol.
